There wasn’t any footy last week, so you didn’t get an update from me. You would be forgiven for thinking that we simply pivoted full speed into college football and the NFL, but when we’ve got system plays that are hitting over 60%, we don’t turn off the tap around here.
Two weeks ago, I gave you six plays for the last round of the regular season, and those plays went 4-2. The ML parlay lock of the week also hit. JUST ANOTHER HO HUM WEEK AROUND HERE. That wraps up the season at 52-32, hitting 61.9% of plays, and netting a profit of about 15.32 units, assuming -110 odds.
So now that the playoffs are here, let’s just fire off some beer money bets to see what shakes out. Here’s what I’m playing this week:
AFL Plays of the Week
Adelaide -8.5 - The Crows have been great all season and even without one of their best players, should make light work of a Collingwood side that has dropped 5 of their last 7 matches, including a close one against this side two weeks ago.
Geelong -6.5 - Geelong has lost three in a row to the Lions, who are defending their championship and were the side to bounce the Cats from finals last season, but you’d be hard pressed to find a team in better form right now than Geelong, and they certainly have been looking forward to an opportunity to return the favor.
Geelong/Brisbane o169.5 - I’m wary of high scoring in the playoffs, where defenses typically dominate, but these are two high-powered offenses and we’re playing with house money, so let’s take a shot.
Hawthorn +3.5 - You might as well bet the Hawks on the moneyline at +105, but I like taking the points just the same. GWS can play with anybody, but they’re also prone to no shows and Hawthorn’s squad has been eager to get back to finals footy and have been battle tested down the stretch. This team can hang. I think they win an instant classic.
Gold Coast +10.5 - I locked this one in at 11.5 last week, but I’ve got Gold Coast as the better side in this one. Freo is another side that looks good enough to win the whole thing one week, and then incapable of beating a bottom dweller the next. Give me the side playing finals footy for the first time with arguably the best coach in the sport at the helm. Toss a little on the moneyline at +145 while you’re at it.
Four games, five plays. We’re squeezing plays from a stone here.
Wait, did you think that was it?
Drumroll please….
Introducing….
AFL Women’s Plays of the Week
While you were all sitting around counting your money last week, I’ve been #inthelab cooking up women’s plays. After a 4-5 first week, I went 7-2 this past week, so let’s see if we can keep this thing going.
Melbourne -25.5
Western +19.5
Collingwood +46.5
Essendon +5.5
Essendon ML +130
West Coast +0.5
Good luck! Plenty of American football picks will be coming your way later in the week. For now, enjoy two days without football before we jump in for another five days in a row.
